To Purchase an Emulsion Well |
TLF Shop Closed for the Summer |
Emulsion well bodies are sized to match up with Corning brand glass coating rods/Puddle Pushers. The cavity to hold emulsion in a well can be made any size. Currently, we have standardized on four sizes to suit as many overlapping uses as possible, with the least possible waste of emulsion. Glass coating rods are available separately from Bostick & Sullivan and Photographers' Formulary. (Note: A 5-1/2 inch puddle pusher is usually sold as '5x7', a 9-inch as '8x10' and a 12-inch as '11x14'.) Each well order also includes a cleaning brush, a monoject syringe, a 35cc syringe, a small funnel and a small dropper bottle of Photoflo 600.
For more information on how to use the emulsion coating wells, please go here. It is my recommendation that you start with the smallest emulsion cavity that will fit your immediate needs. This will reduce the cost of the learning curve. I think a smaller variety will always be useful for testing new emulsions or papers and that both the small and large wells have a place in the tool box. But, if you choose to have only one well, you can trade in your small one (in A+ condition, of course) for a larger one, for only the round-trip cost of shipping to Oregon. SHIPPING: Within the Continental USA, shipping is $15 (except for the 'Test' size). If you live outside the Lower 48, contact me at 'editor at thelightfarm dot com' with your address. I'll find out the shipping and get back to you with the total cost.
